Data Engineer

ForeOptics is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Digital Practice. As a critical member of the data analytics platform development team, the Data engineer will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of the ETL jobs for ingestion and transformation areas of the data pipeline.  The project focuses on client’s operational readiness and data backbone buildout.  The data engineer will an integral part of the team in this digital transformation project.

Responsibilities & Job Functions

Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of internal and external data sources.

Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

Communicate complex solutions and ideas to a variety of stakeholders (other team members, IT leadership, and business leaders) in easily understandable language

Utilize and stay current in programming languages and software technology (e.g. Python, SQL etc.)

Collaborates with IT and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.

Running and presenting reports to CEO, CFO, Head of Retail, Head of Intermediary, Head of Institutional, CMO etc.

Reports include: Channel Reporting (monthly), MF Direct Channel Dashboard (daily), End of the month Summary of Direct Channel, Member Distribution list for Marketing

Education, Experience, Qualifications

Data warehousing and ETL solutions

Schema design and dimensional data modeling

Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem and implementations

Experience working with APIs

Understanding of big data concepts

Ability to work with any level of stakeholder across the business

Excellent analytic skills associated with working on unstructured datasets

AWS: EC2, EMR, Athena, Glue etc

Good experience working with Informatica cloud

Experience working with Tableau or other BI Visualization tools (Optional)

Certifications not required, but a plus

3yrs of hands on experience working on ETL solutions

Demonstrated understanding and experience using scripting languages including SQL, Python
